Role Overview
Chevron is seeking an Offshore Rotating Equipment Specialist – Advisor to provide senior technical advisory leadership for offshore rotating equipment maintenance and reliability. The role serves as the offshore technical authority for critical rotating machinery, supporting safe and reliable operations through disciplined troubleshooting, maintenance strategy validation, quality assurance oversight, and structured capability development of national technicians, trainees, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide senior technical advisory support for gas turbines, compressors, motor-driven equipment, and auxiliary systems to sustain safe, reliable production.
• Act as offshore technical authority for troubleshooting, inspections, overhauls, and reliability decision-making for rotating equipment.
• Lead and support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and validate maintenance strategies to reduce repeat failures and improve reliability.
• Provide technical advisory input for major repairs, upgrades, and shutdown activities; review engineering documentation and verify execution readiness.
• Interface with OEMs and vendors to support compliant execution aligned with specifications and standards.
• Reinforce safety culture and operational excellence through permit-to-work discipline, risk control guidance, and participation in incident investigations/learning reviews.
• Provide advisory support during abnormal operations, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency repairs.
• Serve as SME/technical instructor—teach rotating equipment theory, diagnostics, and best practices through structured coaching and mentoring of national staff and trainees.
Requirements
• Advanced knowledge of offshore rotating equipment including gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, motor-driven compressors, generators, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
• Hands-on advisory capability for mechanical inspections, borescope inspections, assembly/disassembly, and major equipment overhauls.
• Strong fault diagnosis capability including vibration behavior, lubrication systems, alignment, and RCFA.
• Working knowledge of rotating equipment control/protection systems (including Mark VIe and RX3i PLC / PAC Machine Edition).
• Familiarity with LM2500 / PGT25 gas turbines, Solar Mars 90 turbine generators, and motor-driven compressor systems.
• Ability to review and provide technical input on P&IDs, BFDs, GA drawings, specifications, and spare parts lists.
• SAP CMMS experience for work order governance and equipment history management.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop national staff, trainees, and contractors.
