Role Overview
Chevron is seeking an Offshore Lead Electrical Technician – Advisor to provide advanced technical advisory leadership for offshore electrical maintenance activities. The role focuses on safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production facilities through technical guidance, mentoring, and disciplined maintenance execution aligned with Chevron standards and OEM requirements. The position serves as a recognized electrical technical authority and technical instructor, supporting capability development of national technicians, trainees, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advisory leadership for offshore electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability support across medium- and low-voltage systems (including 6.9 kV and 480 V).
• Advise on planning, scheduling, work sequencing, isolation strategy, and risk controls in coordination with the Offshore Maintenance Foreman.
• Serve as electrical technical authority, ensuring execution aligns with approved procedures, OEM recommendations, and Chevron standards.
• Execute SAP CMMS responsibilities including work order planning, materials identification, spare parts management, charging, and close-out.
• Provide quality assurance of electrical maintenance and repair to improve equipment reliability and reduce operational risk.
• Act as Advisor/Technical Instructor—transfer theoretical and practical knowledge through coaching and hands-on instruction.
• Support structured competency development, assessment, and progression programs with Learning & Development resources.
• Provide technical advisory support for shutdowns, turnarounds, and projects (scope definition, readiness, isolation, execution guidance).
• Reinforce electrical safety practices (PTW compliance, energy isolation, arc-flash awareness, hazardous area requirements, JRA).
• Support abnormal operations, complex failures, emergency preparedness, and other operational needs as required.
Requirements
- Proven offshore electrical maintenance experience in oil & gas or similar industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems (switchgear, MCCs, generators, motors, drives, protection systems).
• Demonstrated capability in mentoring/coaching and technical instruction.
• Strong HSE mindset and disciplined execution in high-risk environments.
• SAP CMMS (or equivalent) maintenance planning and close-out experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
