Role Overview
We are seeking an Offshore Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Advisor to oversee electrical and instrumentation activities on Chevron’s Alen Offshore Platform in Equatorial Guinea. Reporting to the Offshore Maintenance Foreman, this role is responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance, ensuring compliance with technical standards, managing CMMS (SAP) for spares and work control, and providing day‑to‑day leadership and mentorship to the E&I team. The Advisor supports safe, reliable operations on a complex, high‑capacity gas and condensate facility while developing national staff through structured competency programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities in line with operational priorities and HSE requirements.
• Plan, schedule, and prioritize preventive and corrective maintenance using SAP CMMS, ensuring high‑quality work scopes and accurate data.
• Manage spare parts and materials for E&I systems, including requisitions, inventory review, and optimization.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance of E&I maintenance and repair work to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and Chevron standards.
• Support project and shutdown planning, including scope definition, readiness reviews, and execution support for E&I activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture and operational discipline, ensuring consistent use of PTW, JSA, and safe work practices.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of approximately 7 technicians and 1 trainee, providing on‑the‑job training and performance feedback.
• Contribute to competency management and development plans for national staff, in collaboration with Learning & Development.
• Liaise with onshore engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve technical issues and optimize equipment reliability.
• Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions related to E&I systems.
• Requirements
• Significant offshore experience in electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance and leadership within oil and gas or similar industrial facilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of offshore E&I systems (power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, instrumentation, control and safety systems).
• Proven experience in planning, scheduling, and managing maintenance through SAP CMMS or equivalent.
• Demonstrated leadership and team development skills, including mentoring and competency building for national staff.
• Strong HSE mindset with disciplined execution in high‑risk environments.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work offshore rotational assignments and adapt to changing operational demands.
Requirements
• Extensive experience in offshore automation and controls (oil & gas preferred).
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, instrumentation, and safety systems; ability to independently resolve complex issues.
• Hands-on experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and GE systems including Mark VIe).
• Proficiency with HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Cimplicity).
• Strong understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus, fiber optics; managed switches/VLANs/redundancy advantageous).
• Experience with safety/protection systems (ESD, Fire & Gas, SIS including cause & effect and proof testing).
• Familiarity with flow measurement systems (ultrasonic/orifice/Coriolis, LACT and meter proving) and exposure to condition monitoring systems (e.g., Bently Nevada) is an advantage.
• Ability to read/interpret P&IDs, one-line diagrams, logic diagrams, and control narratives; strong documentation discipline (mark-ups, loop folders, configuration records).
• SAP CMMS experience for work execution and maintenance history discipline.
• Proven ability to coach others through troubleshooting (advisor/mentor approach), without relying on line authority.
