Role Overview
Chevron is seeking an Offshore Instrumentation Advisor to serve as the primary offshore technical authority for instrumentation, control, and safety-critical systems. This role provides technical advisory leadership, planning assurance, and hands-on coaching to ensure maintenance execution meets Chevron standards, OEM requirements, and disciplined maintenance practices, while supporting national workforce capability development.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as the primary offshore technical authority for instrumentation, control, and safety-critical systems.
• Review, validate, and finalize maintenance plans and schedules based on criticality, failure modes, and operational risk.
• Provide hands-on coaching during complex troubleshooting, calibration, loop checking, testing, repair, and restoration.
• Perform technical quality assurance of maintenance execution for compliance with engineering standards, OEM requirements, and Chevron practices.
• Support root cause failure analysis and teach diagnostic logic, failure mechanisms, and corrective strategies.
• Maintain SAP CMMS technical discipline (scope quality, BOM validation, spares review, close-out standards).
• Serve as technical interface between offshore teams and onshore engineering, maintenance management, and procurement support.
• Provide advisory input to shutdowns, turnarounds, and critical maintenance/project scopes; verify readiness and guide execution.
• Reinforce safety culture for safety-critical instrumentation and shutdown systems through coaching and participation in JRA/observations/investigations.
• Lead structured knowledge transfer and mentoring for national staff, contractors, and trainees; support competency programs and gap identification.
Requirements
• Strong offshore instrumentation and controls maintenance experience (oil & gas preferred).
• Working knowledge of control and safety systems (DCS/PLC/SIS and safety-critical instrumentation).
• Demonstrated coaching/mentoring capability and ability to transfer knowledge through structured learning.
• SAP CMMS (or equivalent) experience and strong maintenance execution discipline.
• Strong HSE mindset and ability to operate effectively in multicultural teams.
