Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Deck Lead / Crane Operator to oversee safe and efficient deck operations on the Alen offshore platform, with a strong focus on crane, lifting, rigging, and heli-operations support. The role is accountable for leading the deck crew, ensuring disciplined execution of all lifting and cargo-handling activities, maintaining equipment integrity, and coordinating closely with Operations, Maintenance, Marine, and Logistics teams in a high-risk offshore environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all deck operations, including crane, lifting, rigging, and cargo-handling activities in support of production, maintenance, and logistics.
- Operate offshore cranes in accordance with OEM recommendations, certified operating standards, and company procedures, ensuring safe personnel and cargo transfers.
- Plan and coordinate all lifting activities: review and prepare lift plans, support risk assessments/JSAs, and lead toolbox talks and pre-lift meetings.
- Oversee deck crew, banksmen, and riggers to ensure correct use of signals, radios, and communication protocols during lifting and deck operations.
- Conduct and document pre-use checks, routine maintenance, and inspections of cranes, lifting gear, and accessories; maintain accurate equipment registers and certification records.
- Manage safe loading/unloading of supply vessels, including segregation, securing, and backloading of cargo and handling of hazardous materials and special loads.
- Lead heli-operations (HeliOps) on deck: helideck readiness checks, passenger and baggage handling, coordination with pilots, manifest control, and contribution to helicopter emergency preparedness.
- Review and verify lifting-related work packages, permits, and isolations to support safe execution in line with company HSSE standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to lifting procedures, working at height and dropped-object prevention standards; actively participate in safety campaigns, audits, and inspections.
- Coordinate day-to-day deck activity planning with Operations, Maintenance, Marine, and Logistics to minimize risk and support reliable production and maintenance delivery.
- Participate in emergency response roles and regular drills (e.g., fire, man overboard, helicopter/helideck emergencies).
- Provide clear daily reporting on deck activities, equipment status, non-conformances, and incidents/near-misses.
Requirements
- Proven offshore deck operations experience, with demonstrable time as Deck Lead/Foreman, Senior Rigger, or Crane Operator on production facilities or drilling units.
- Valid offshore crane operator certification (e.g., OPITO or equivalent) and banksman/slinger or rigger qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations standards and best practices (e.g., LOLER or equivalent), rigging, working at height, and dropped-object prevention.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervision skills in high-risk deck, lifting, and heli-operations environments.
- Strong HSSE mindset with disciplined execution and willingness to intervene in unsafe situations.
- Experience supporting permit-to-work, risk assessments, and lifting-related safety reviews.
- Experience in heli-deck / HeliOps support and marine logistics coordination preferred.
- Ability to work rotational offshore assignments with high situational awareness and strong communication across multicultural teams.
